Well… the weather really affects my arthritis! Spring is here and I’m here to tell you that I’m glad. Here in Arkansas, it’s raining and that seems to aggravate my arthritis too. Hopefully soon though, warmer, dryer weather will be here~
I do my best to stay warm. I keep my knees covered and I ALWAYS wear socks. My hands are the problem. I do have Raynaud’s syndrome and my hands can really do a number on me. They will hurt so bad. I will even wear gloves in the house at times.
My jewelry obsession is a ring, any ring. At times though, I can’t wear my wedding bands because my fingers are swollen so badly. This happens MAINLY when it’s cold or it’s raining. I’m not sure if everyone has this problem with their arthritis and the weather, I just know that I do.
I can remember when I was little, My Grandma would rub her knee and say “I think it’s going to rain because Arthur is calling”. It seems as though everyone in my Mother’s family has some form of arthritis or auto-immune disease. I was diagnosed early compared to other family members, at the age of 28. I’ve learned over the years how to do self-care for my arthritis in between my DR. appointments. I do take several arthritis medications but at times I do need prednisone. It will help the bad flare ups I have.
With it being April, and you do know the saying, “April Showers Bring May Flowers”, the rain will be here for a little bit longer. I’m really hoping that May brings better weather. Being from a southern girl though, I’m used to the unusual weather. Maybe May will bring me less achy knees, lol 🙂
Tell me, please, does weather affect your arthritis? What type of self-care do you practice for your arthritis? Do you have any advice for me or anyone else that suffers from arthritis?
